    EXCLUSIVE: Dr. Scott Atlas, President Trump's special adviser on the coronavirus pandemic, formally resigned from his post on Monday, Fox News has learned. placeholder Atlas, who spoke with the president on Monday, joined the administration in August, and was considered a Special Government Employee (SGE), serving a 130-day detail. Atlas' role is set to expire this week.

The virus surge could overload California's intensive care units in December, the governor warned, saying the state may need to take "drastic action."

California is one of several states that had appeared to have gained control of the virus, only to see it spread rapidly throughout the fall. On Sunday it became the first state to record over 100,000 cases in just a week, according to a New York Times database.

Arizona certified Joe Biden's victory and Wisconsin is expected to do so today, further undermining President Trump's efforts to dispute his loss.

In the end, Mr. Biden prevailed by over 10,000 votes in Arizona, mainly because of his strength in the state’s largest county, Maricopa, which has been trending Democratic in recent elections.

Wisconsin’s expected certification follows the conclusion of recounts, requested and subsidized with $3 million from President Trump’s campaign, in Dane and Milwaukee Counties which resulted in Mr. Biden adding 87 votes to his statewide margin.
